A new STS crane for MSC’s terminal in Valencia

In November 2021 we attended another project cargo operation in the port of Valencia: the discharge of a Liebherr MalaccaMax ship-to-shore container crane for the MSC terminal, designed to handle the largest container ships in the world.

The crane, built at Liebherr Container Cranes’ plant in Ireland, arrived in Valencia on board the vessel Koper. Discharge was completed after two days of operations.

With a lifting capacity of 65 tonnes, the new crane strengthens the terminal’s ability to serve the latest generation of vessels.

Operations involving large, high-value units call for careful planning, continuous monitoring and a detailed record of every stage. That is where the presence of an independent surveyor adds value.
